That's why I park and pound most of the time. I've got deadener, but it hasn't been warm enough to spend time applying it. Road noise does suck

The engine is right behind my head, and there's only one layer of sheet metal separating the cab from the engine bay. I should have said engine noise

Proper deadner and electrical usually costs as much as the audio equipment.

A quarter of the cost of my next build will be deadening materials. Grand total of $920 in CLD, CCF, and MLV, plus the deadener I already have.

You need an inch of mass loaded vinyl there.

Quick question. The interior part of my firewall is practically impossible to get too. Too much plastic and wires in the ways. Is it safe to put MLV on the engine side of the firewall? Stuff is pretty durable and seems heat resistant. Whats the route people go on kill engine noise?

You need an inch of mass loaded vinyl there.

Keep Hope Alive recommended I put a layer of MDF there.

There's a hole in my exhaust manifold, so its kinda noisy to say the least. I'm replacing it when I re-build my engine during auto tech next year. I already got the ok from my instructor.

Really the best you can do is deadening on the inside. MLV is supposed to be loose and have the ability to move, if it can swing out and hit the engine you're asking for trouble.
