you know its a good song when:

oh i was thinking bout

"Us and Them" By pink floyd

"Layla" By clapton (those last 3 minutes are eardrum ***)

"Poet Laurette II" by Canibus (the dude flows for like 7 minutes straight, its great)

also maybe "Am I Evil" By metallica.

No rude remark in here yet I noticed, so I'll havto make the first one.

*Ahem*

after 7 minutes, you still want MORE of it
{Drum roll}

"Too bad I can't say the same about this thread"

{rimshot}

Others-

"Too bad I can't say the same about your sister"

"Like my penis"

Thank you im here all night. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

my list of songs that either need more, or are long and good as they are:

Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Part I)

Floyd - Marooned

CCR - Who'll Stop the Rain (**** you Fogerty, you needed to make songs over four minutes, not just one version of "Heard it through the Grapevine" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif )

CCR - Lodi (same thing applies...)

Dylan - Desolation Row (eleven minutes long with no repeating chorus - and still could use more verses!)

Dylan - Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts (almost nine minutes, no wasted lyrics)

Dire Straits - Tunnel of Love (eigh minutes long, Knopfler should have spent an extra two minutes on the guitar & piano flourish at the end and it still would have worked)

The Byrds - Wasn't Born to Follow (you don't write a song with lyrics like this and only have it be two minutes! Roger McGuinn, you fool!)

The Doors - Light My Fire (little over seven minutes, and they really got the solo parts right.)

Allman Bros - Jessica (seven and a half minutes, works perfectly at that length)

there are sooo many more.

"Layla" By clapton (those last 3 minutes are eardrum ***)
Don't know if you knew this or not, but Clapton's version of the song is quite different. Before he died in a motorcycle wreck, Duane Allman rewrote the now-immortal guitar lines for Clapton to play, adding notes in the chord progression. And the piano part was not originally part of the song (!).
