Yet another W7 post...

Good for you. Were they all in a similar enviroment following strict guidelines to reduce variables? Didn't think so. Good night!

u have your die hard jl fans, then you have those that hate jl, then u have those that support some jl products, then u have those that cannot afford jl or claim they can't but don't want to "waste money" on it, then u have those that just prefer "the best" so to speak - so feel they need to spend mone on it.

I dont believe the Mustang has more than 3.75 cu/ft in the trunk. So going with 2 Dub7's would be impossible, unless they are sealed.

Go with one and a 1000/1. Same exact setup in my friends Civic Si.

And for the record: My XXX is louder than his Dub7. Few variables though, as I have 1/0 gauge and a DN line driver. Nonetheless, both sound absolutely fantastic and is louder than most 12"/15" installs.

it's a fukking known fact that ANY of the subs i listed can EASILY exceed the w7 in spl. AND, as for SQ...this is very subjective...but IMO with the installs i have heard...i like my magnum as opposed to the w7. I would say the magnum, xxx, brahma, and A have comparable SQ. peace

all i can say to ur comment is...

when one wants to compare something to "what is considered top notch" they always say 'is it better than the w7'

despite what you may feel, u know that its true too

Perhaps that is because they are uneducated and unaware that there are comparable products on the market that don't cost as much as the W7. Maybe it is because they don't have the JL name or a section on the website showing a bunch of marketing nomenclature for a few optimizations that the W7 has. Maybe it is because the person is trying to relate it to the type of person I just described...

The W7 is a good woofer; it's really good, yeah. But ALOT of other woofers are really good too. It isn't the end all, be all of subwoofers. If it was, every theater in the world, Disney, epcot, everybody would be bowing to JL and buying them en-masse to get their hands on the best of the best. Are they? No. Face it; it is JUST a good subwoofer. It's got plenty of competition to deal with, and in my opinion, it's way overpriced.

So, what’s my opinion on why people compare everything to a W7? Maybe it is the best they have heard, because they haven't heard much. Maybe it is the audio shop guy's sales tactics because he makes a huge commission on JL stuff, or maybe, just maybe it is because the person is naïve and simply has not done their homework. That is why people consider the W7 to be the end all, be all, best of the best woofer it ISNT. Period.

**** right I am a 17 year old with an opinion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

all i can say to add to this conversation is that i have taken my 4 magnum 12"s against SEVERAL set ups involving 2 15" dub sev's, and they werent even close in SPL. i think the closest the JL's ever came was about 7 Db's. this was at a sanctioned SPL event, same mic, the JL's even had more power on them.

the W7 is a great woofer, not the best in my oppinion, especially not at the price. i just know first hand that my mags are louder, and i would be willing to put them up against the dub sev for SQ as well. i am pretty confident on the outcome.

but to each his own, if you have lots of cash and want a big name, buy the JL and say good bye to your trunk.

also, if you want to get really technical about box specs...

2 magnum 12's only takes 1 cu. ft. to gain a QTC of .736

1 JL 13W7 takes a minimum of 2.5 cu. ft. to get a QTC of .795

2 magnums get down to a .707 QTC in 1.14 cu. ft.

1 JL 13W7 requires about 4.1 c. ft. to get the .707

the JL takes qite a bit more space, something to consider since the person who started this thread has a very limited amount of trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I don't buy it. I know numbers don't matter necessarily but the w7 has more displacement than all the subs mentioned. At comparible wattage I would give the advantage due to the w7. But once you get outside of what a W7 can handle I would give the advantage to the xxx. I would say the magnum is somewhere in the middle. The fact is nobody buys a W7 for the SPL. People buy it for sql. They tune it low and let it do its thing. People buy x's to get loud (for the most part), they tune them higher and feed them a shit load of power. That is why they are louder. But based on sheer dispacement the w7 wins hands down. Peace!

gaaaaaaaaaaaaay
couldn't have sed it better myself...thanks for copying and following suit in the user text also...queer. I'll let ur little childish mind believe it...but when i have time i'll prove to you. ALSO, it's a proven fact that the magnum d2 will beat a 12 w7 in the excat same box...ask any1 here who has competed w/ 1...including me...dustin...loyd...any1. You are a newb fool...learn to listen to others. peace
