Yet another W7 post...

I'm buying a new Mustang this fall. I wanna put a seriuos SPL system in it.

I was thinking about two 13W7's powered buy two JL 1000/1 amps. Is this a good idea or is it too much for the trunk of a mustang? How loud will this be? The loudest system I've heard in person is a 1200W/2 Solobaric system. So I can't imagine how loud 2000 watts into two 13W7's would be.

u probably can't fit 2 13w7s in a mustang's trunk.

1 12 w7 would be hard to get in there, unless u did custom.

also, if u got 2 12s (notice i said 12's) u'd only need 1 jl1000.1 amp

If I were you I'd go with a 13w7 ported in about 3-3.5cuft. Feed it anywhere from 1000-1500 daily, and you'll be more than happy.

OR you could get any number of subs that perform just as well in SQ...and MUCH better in the SPL area AND cost less. SO, since i noticed you said SPL...you should look into Incriminator Audio, Resonant Engineering, or Stereo Integrity.

Where do you get your information? Have you ever ran any of these speakers side by side to a W7? A w7 will perform just as well as all of the drivers noted. When you are comparing any of these high end drivers price and personal preference are the only way to distinguish. Saying these drivers will out perform a W7 just shows your ignorance.

No I haven't. That is why it is not fair to say which is superior. And even if I did compare all of these woofers side by side my results would still just be based on my personal preference. All I was trying to say is that with the quality drivers mentioned any will suffice. And saying that all of the drivers are superior to the W7 is ignorant because the W7 is probably the most highly acclaimed woofer on the market. It has been proven time in and time out. It's just not fair to say any of these drivers are any better than another because in the end it will come down to personal preference.

While i do agree with your statement, i must say that it's also not fair to say that the W7 is better than the other drivers listed.

I agree 100%. I never said the W7 was better. I said it would be unfair to say any one driver was better. And yes, if you base your descision on price then the w7 is the hands down loser. But if price isn't an object the service and support provided through a local dealer will be hard to top when compared to that of an internet dealer. Not that there is anything wrong with online service, it's just that it can't touch that of a good local dealer.

All of the drivers mentioned will sound great and will be too loud for you to listen to for long periods of time. You will be more than impresses with all of them.

probably if you are still willing to get the two jl 1000/1's then you should get 2 magnums. they run at 600 rms, and can take way more, so you will get great spl and great sq out of 2 12 inch 600 rms subs, sounds like a good deal to me. but if you are dead set on w7's, i think 2 12's would have a better chance fitting.

12mag: 24mm xmax(2)(.05 sd) * 2 = 4.8 L

w7 rec. box size is 2.375 ft^3 for a ported box

mags are 1.5 or 2 ft^3 each for a ported box.

(btw w7 has a published xmax of 32 mm, but was dumaxed to do 34 mm)
