Yet another Gain Question...

have a Memphis PR300 amp that puts out 500rms bridged. Doing the calculations I get that my gain should be 44.7 volts. It is hooked to a Kicker Comp Dual 2 ohm voice coil 12" woofer but it is wired in 4 ohm. I set it just how the thing shows and left my headunit how it always is settings wise like gain tutorial here shows but the sub is SOO quiet you can't even hardly hear it. It stinks horribly. All the bass goes to sub yet door speakers are putting out more bass than sub.

What did I do wrong does anyone have any idea? I KNOW the sub can surely take more than what its giving? The gain is only up like 1/5 of the way at 44.7ac volts and my LP is turned on my amp at like whatever the notch between 45-250 is. When im adjusting gain what do I set the headunits built in sub crossover to?

Someone please guide me in the right direction.

Ok, I give up...I've begged for help and I can't even get it at that..this place sucks I swear. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

try to get an oscope, you could possibly have some ways to go level match.
I sure wish I could afford a oscope..Hell a oscope would be worth more than my whole setup though..LOL

I finally just said to hell with it and raised the gain up one notch from half up. It doesn't sound like its clipping..I know that doesn't mean it is isn't clipping though. To be honest I dont know exactly what clipping sounds like though so..

Phuck it, if sounds good let her rip, thats what warranties are for anyways.
LOL...Could you or anyone attempt to describe clipping to me? I know it is distorcian(sp?) of the sub but how can you "hear it" so to say?

Yeah it definately sounds good..Im wondering if it has more in it. I just blew a kicker 12" round solobaric so i dont want to blow anything else but..Im wondering how much more it has in it though. Gain is LESS than half way up..I know that means nothing but.

Did you even use a DMM?
also, if the amp is overpowerin the sub, then that means you'll want to set the gains to the subs specifications.
DMM is a voltmeter right? If so yep, i used it and it setting it how the gain thread says made it SOO quiet that my door speakers were putting out more bass. It sucked.

Do I set gains to sub specs by doing what gain tutorial thread says? If thats what you mean I did that and that is what made the sub so quiet it was ridicilous.
