well i have looked and looked and looked at basically every amplifier from alphasonik to zed and have narrowed my amp choices to these 4... i have heard some bad things about all of them.. but i only want to spend $300 max on an amp, and i expect to find some bad apples in the bunch due to the price range.. but i like all 4 of these amps and wouldnt mind any of them.. but i just thought i would run it past u guys to give me a second opinion on these things: (at least 300 good watts going to each sub)
---- 2005 soundstream tarantula tra800.2
---- phoenix gold xenon 600.1
---- hifonics bx1205d
---- planet audio p1250d (this is a factory refurb so i am kinda wary about this, but apparently it is tested prior to delivery)
thanks for any help in my final choice... i am looking for a nice clean signal producing amp but has good power to push some12" subs (will be replaced by van gogh 12" subs in the next few months)... nothing i want to bring and compete with.. but something that will sound good for daily use
i am hoping the 2005 soundstream models are close to the same quality as their old van gogh models (which i owned and sounded incredible when it was working... but i think i bought from a shadey ebay store befor ei knew anything about ebay.. the amp only lasted a couple of months)
and i have only heard GOOD things about planet audio.. but the refurb thing kinda scares the hell out of me (but the store offers a 1 year warranty so that makes me feel better)..
and i have heard that the xenon amps have reliability issues but sound great when they work(i am willing to toss them bones to get a good xenon amp)
and hifonics is just raw power for the price.. and i think i like that, but am kinda wary about the current draw of that amp(cuz at 1ohm it wil draw a little under 100 amps with a high assed thd rating... but i dont care... i can live with it)
so any input on these 4 amps (please.. no others.. i have exhausted that road ..(ie: i looked at ed audio nine.1 and thought for a d class amp it wasnt very efficient(65%??? and 120 amp current draw???))
