YES I GOT THEM, YES THERE HOT YES THERE LOUD AND YESSS THEY ARE ALPINE TYPE R's!!!!!!

I paid 220 and change for the pair shipped to my door, i forgot the website, but I'm putting these in each of there own 2.2 cu-ft box, not counting the port it will be 2 cu ft real space for the sub, the xmax is 18, the box I'm still saving for , so far i have the 2 subs and my

bx1800d which will power the 2. I'm very excited about getting them hooked up in there new box's, ill get back to you guys in a few months when i have my new car. But that doesnt mean im leaving. im still gonna be here for ever. Theres just enough space to fit the boxes with some room to spare for air.

I was i the stage like probably everyone else was when i was going to go for the subs at the flea market that were already in a "high quality CHROME AND PLEXI! Enclosure" but since then Ive learned alot and have taking experience first hand and learned alot from this forum. Luckily i never waste my money on one of those setups. I'm glad i waited and finally have some stuff I'm gonna stick with and that i think will suite my needs until i feel like downgrading. I'm proud to say that I'm 99% sure i will have the loudest system in my high school. My next investment is an Alarm System. LOL

Thanx for yalls help

they have 30 some MM of mechanical xmax... loooong way to go before they bottom out. Allows for that big power handling @ a low note.
And the R has a dual spider, it stays fairly stiff
I wouldn't recommend using anything above the xmax (rather than xmech you are referring to) for actual listening purposes though. Burping, yeah. Music, no. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

they'll handle it (ive been there... alot, lol) but they sound horrific once they get to that point.

I wouldnt suggest it either, definitely.

Most any other 18mm xmax woof I would have smoked, many times, by now. Its very difficult to find a woofer that has high mechanical power handling coupled with enough effeciancy to do the job.

I wouldnt mind testing a 12" type R when i get my sealed enclosure finished just to see how it sounds compared to a eD 12o.44.

Which gets pretty dang loud in a leaky sealed enclosure off of 500W

And i have to say....that sub is definetly not nice looking.

Flat cone> j00 @11 !

The W7 is such a beast. Its rated xmax is what, 34mm, but mechanically (xmech) it will go above 40mm. Still, I wouldn't ever recommend going above its rated 34mm xmax either, just like the R's 18mm, unless you really really like the sound of distortion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Or you are burping (but then how often do you exceed xmax burping in a vented system either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif). Frankly Im not seeing the high xmech being that big of an advantage for the R. Doesn't really help the W7 (nobody plays them above xmax daily, and how often do we see them in some SPL vehicle in sealed enclosures?), dont see it really helping the R.

I assume when you say you would have 'smoked' any other 18mm sub that you mean thermally. I know you run vented systems, unless you are letting the sub unload below tuning, I really dont see you having any issues with the mechanical limits of the subs you use.
