Loyd had 2 8volt batts, I think.. he was about to run high current stuff but decided not to.

I think 16V might just burn the car's ECU. I also think he'd need to have a high current amp to run it at 16V constant.

I have an Optima Yellow Top dedicated to my system. It works very well.. I would also look into the Stinger SP1000, or the SPV44, both are excellent units we use all the time at the shop.

well thats the thing, is that i only have room for 1 battery, so it all runs off of the one under the hood. I have an Ohio Generator alternator so i dont really need a second battery...so with this set up, red top would be better?

The secondary batt would usually be in the trunk, not in the engine bay..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A red top is supposed to be beneficial during start-ups. It does not like deep-cycling, like other standard batts. The yellow top's are deep cycle friendly.

Nah, you ain't stupid. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hell, I don't know what bling bling is. People have yet to tell me..

I could be wrong, but:

Deep-cycling is the batt's ability to be drained to a very low level, then recharged to full capacity without damaging itself.

Standard and red-tops, once you've nearly depleted the batt, even if you get them recharged, you won't get much out of it. I learnt this the ahrd way when I bought my red top.. lasted about three years.

I dunno why optima USA doesn't recommend the yellow as the primary batt (maybe a marketing strategy to sell off more batts). My dad's car has run the yellow top as the main bat for about 5 years without a glitch. Optima Korea says there's nothing wrong with using the yellow as primary. Loads of people here do that with zero problems.

Bling bling is... I guess the sound that stupid rappers made up for what diamonds and glass and sparkly shit does when it hits the light. LoL I dont really know myself. I am STILL waiting for someone to tell me what it means to get 'crunk"

So I can get a yellow top and run it as my primary starting batt?

Not sure how many cycles each battery is good for, but i know my system, with a red top for a starting battery, and a yellow top dedicated to the system can play for quite some time without going dead. My system is below.

I believe the blue tops are for marine use...

Again, the red tops are not made to withstand deep cycling.
