Y we don't see competitions so much any more

When you go to finals (or see pics) and literally 8 out of 10 vehicles are CRX's, its a sign of a major flaw in the system. (or pandas in Europe)

But, people will be people. Just about any competition will have people pushing the envelope to exploit any loophole they can. And car stereo competitions just have too many loose ends and complications to allow simple rules. Complex rules means lots of loopholes. Competing turns into a group of people winning who have the money/time to buy a specialized vehicle and build a totally specialized install completely dependent on exploiting those loopholes. To the rest of the people (the vast majority), it simply becomes a spectator sport. That's a recipe for killing the entire 'sport'.

Iasca is still really popular in FL and we're trying to bring it back in the Carolinas. Other than that, yeah, it's dead here in the US. Finals always has plenty of competitors though. Mainly cause it's in Daytona, FL in conjunction with SBN. Prime location and time for it.
dB Drag needs a serious revamp of their street classes. Until they make them more newb friendly they'll continue to be dead. The BassRace side is boomin. It's easy to learn, anyone can do it, and it doesn't cost an arm & leg to compete.
yeah.... drag has gone down the shitter.... and it seems as if wayne doesnt give a ratz azz.... o boy

I think all consumer vehicles should be everyday drivers (proof of insurance needs to be shown) ... not something custom built for competition only ... no matter what class. SQ or SPL ... This would make a more level playing field ... like the old days ...

Unfortunately the people already prepared to spend this type of money on a specialized vehicle would also be able to pay the measly sum required for state-minimum insurance. I doubt it would change them from trailer queens to daily drivers.

LOL! The two times I entered comps back in the late 80's was with my Honda CRX Si! I had about 6,000W crammed into that little rice rocket.
