I love my Sony Plasma TV to death, but would never buy sony's car audio!

Bottom line is: You get what you pay for. And there isnt a such thing as cheap and loud.

i think someone might need to take a listen to my k's as soon as i get them back, even when in a smaller than recomended enclosure, my k's were cheap, and loud.

I like to think that I hold some level of intelligence in car audio. A good number of people would agree that I do.

That being said, and really aside from the point........

Put up or Shut Up.

The Sony Haters Bandwagon that is highly evident in this thread has yet to do anything except repeat the mindless obtuse ramblings of the un-informed, un-experienced, un-familiar, and un-educated, poster children drones of car audio.

I've ran a Sony CDX-M630 for nearly 2 years now. Not a problem or even remote complaint about this unit.

Still running an old (over 6 years at that) Sony EXCD-21 in my work truck. Same story- No issues. No problems. No complaints.

Have a few old Sony Xplod amps sitting around here too. Guess what? 1 year down. - You guessed it. No issues. No problems. No complaints.

Why, there’s something different! A response from someone who actually uses Sony! Likes it, and backs it up. What an amazing concept!

pj2003 has Sony p5 subs and they have worked quite well for him.

Sony is by far quality gear. There is no shame in using it.

Consider this:

Every company has a batch of bad products. A bad batch or two out of thousands produced does not instantly make the entire line of products inferior.

Any one of you Sony Haters that actually have owned Sony Products, consider that perhaps your knowledge and installation skills are the problem?

Quit regurgitating un-informed nonsense, learn a little, use the product, and by d*mn, find out for yourself.

A little effort, applied knowledge, and know how, go a long way.

Just for personal reference, I have used and installed a myriad of car audio products, and per my experience, Sony stuff is NOT on par with what I typically install. Sony P5s are nothing special, but they are not horrible. They are just not great buys for your money.

No, I doubt it is my installation skills as I have plenty of happy customers and successful installs. No I don't like jumping on bandwagons (see my Do not post X vs. Y thread) but this is a case where an ill informed consumer typically could have done better for themselves. I have used Sony Xplod head units, they are tolerable, and look decent, but are not especially feature rich. Sony amps typically seem to run un-naturally hot which is a problem down here in Florida, and I have had two cases where Sony amps have cooked themselves on properly driven and installed setups; that is to say there were in no way, whatsoever, being overworked.

Older Sony stuff is pretty decent, but I see a problem with Sony that is getting worse: they are producing more and more volume with seemingly increasingly lax fault tolerance, and their growing batches of products seem to be less and less reliable. Now, perhaps it is just me noticing this, but for the reason of the recent decline in craftsmanship and quality in the Sony car audio line, I recommend people avoid them when I design car audio systems for them. Perhaps Sony will have an epiphany and turn around and start improving like they have been doing with their ES line of HT components. Perhaps they are going the revamp the Xplod line or replace it all together. If they do something that seems indicative of improvement, I will probably consider them as a viable option for reliable and consistent car audio gear in the future. Until then, Sony car audio is a no-go in my book.

I hope this post has been mature and well versed enough to get your respect and attention. I do not intend to jump on bandwagons nor follow like a lemming, but I based my judgment off of my own personal experience, and determined to agree with the majority… is that a crime?

^^^^^^^^^^^very well said //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/handclap.gif.0c301076f534e244f0460706894f19e0.gif

I don't hate sony, I just think there is better equipment for the money.

The only reason why i complain about sony is because about bad experiences.. i have had plenty.. sound quality really isn't a big problem because you can make just about any halfway descently built speaker sound good in a well built box. The only problems i have had with sony is the lack of tolerance in thier builds. I have no tolerance with lack of tolerance. I mean the overall quality of most of thier products are low. but then again you get what u pay for.

Flea markets are cool places, but i would never buy car audio stuff there. I just don't trust the people there.
