y cant u use 1/2 MDF

depending on what kind of woofer and application 1/2 inch would work fine, like a single 8 or 10 in a sealed box, with low power.....for an sq system would be fine

yeah --it generally just flexes to much, the one criteria for using it that no one mentioned was that its a small box, long sides flex a lot more than short sides, I have used it where space is tight and reenforced it will a few layers on fiberglass, it CAN be used, most find its just not worth the hassel.....it also splits a lot easier when you screw into it.

k, jut wandering cause the box i got is made up of 1/2Mdf and its for 4 12s.. w/ about 2400 watts, and i have no problems w/ it..i did build my box 1st out of 2x2s for bracin and uses liquid nails, caulk and even fiberglass on the inside along w/ many screws..

I would definetely use 3/4. first of all, you KNOW your box wont explode. and when you drill the screws in, they will go in with 3/4. if you used 1/2 in., your screws would split the wood, and you wouldnt get a good seal.

to tell ya the truth, air nailers work best, and carpenters glue does the sealing and most of the bond

We still need to know what amp is having the issue, make and model. Some mono amps only have 1 preamp input and the other is a output.
