Xxx V.s Magnum D2

ok to of the heavy hitters going up head on . which in your mind is best all round sub RE XXX OR magnum D2.ie ; SQ, SPL , cost, overall performance, durability, power, DB , LOOKs, quality. etc
well, as sed...it'd be a tough choice. Price would be a huge factor for me...but it may not be for you. The price difference is less than $100??? i think...the magnum would have the edge in SQ...it is designed for it...also it gets extremely loud. I think they both look cool, both will be durable, power for daily the XXX will take more power (whether that's good or not u decide...electrical upgrade etc) for comps, the magnum will take mass also tho...i mean dustin had an earthquake d2 on each of his. the magnum is extremely efficient...i am only sending mine 300 watts a piece in about 5 cubes net and they sound AMAZING. Magnums, i'd say would reguire a smaller box than the XXX. all in all, it's up too you...either would be a great choice. personally i'd get the magnum...$$ and few other things. peace

My bet would be on the XXX and Magnum having about the same daily driving power handling capacity. Both are 3" coils and their winding lengths should be very similar. Actually the D2 coil is probably a little bit longer than the XXX coil since I do believe the XBL^2 coils are shorter than the top plate and I think the XXX has a 2" top plate -- and the D2 has 2.3" of windings. From a purely coil based perspective I would imagine the Magnum to handle more power thermally. Of course I don't know how many layers of wire the XXX has on the coil or the gauge of the wire so all the variables are not known.

dude i am not buying any sub right now just wanted to see what every boby thought . cause XXX & magnum r the both highly favored by all

I just updated the web page yesterday. Come to find out, in my editing I erased the RMS rating for the Mag's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif But it's back up there now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That is a tough call but I tend to favor the XXX just because of the XBL^2 factor.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that the XXX was supposed to be tops in overall, even in SQ. I could very well be wrong then. How much do both go for anyways in the 12'' models? Either way whatever sub you choose, it will be a good one.

As for your question Maxima, they will both get loud. Period. With the quality of these drivers you don't have to look at the RMS as much. They will take a lot. But you also have to remember that past 1/2 RMS the OUTPUT of the sub is minimally larger. Sure, 100% RMS will be louder but the numbers show what I'm saying. Past 2/3 of a driver's Xmax the driver runs out of torque. Now, XBL^2 technology changes this a little but once you get past the linear Xmax of those subs the BL curve falls off like a stone. And once you are past 30mm of excursion, trying to get more out of it is kind of useless, don't you think?

Hehe, unless we're talking about Apocalypse (8" p-p) here, but that is for another day.

have you onwed or even heard both of the drivers?????? i see you ramblin off supposed numbers...but do u have extensive experience with both? j/w...maybe you DO know what ur talking about...but all i see you doing in numerous threads is talking about "blah blah blah XBL^2.....blah blah blah....RE.....blah..." just need to make sure 100% facts and actual experience so this guy isn't mislead either way.

it says the recommended RMS is 600 watts? and it can still get just as loud as a XXX? how do the D2's compare to the HC's?
read sundownz post above, and also...nick went VERY conservative on the rms rating. It can take MUCH more than shown...i know various people are sending them 900++ watts rms daily. And when it comes down to competitions...it all depends on thermal handling...but at nspl finals dustin had an earthquake d2 on each of his magnums. peace

I don't have extensive experience with them but I have heard them both. Just because you hear it getting louder doesn't necessarily mean the output is proportionally greater too.

As far as my "numbers", it's just from tech papers I've been passed on and read from a very reliable friend. I trust what he says and what he sends me to read. I'll look around to see if I can find the paper.

I know you want him to have reliable information and that is well understood and respected. Jumping on me like that...isn't. My thing with XBL^2 technology is just that it is a great technology. It doesn't cost much extra to implement it into a driver. As far as RE, I like RE. They make good stuff. So do many other companies...like Stereo Integrity...
