MAgnum D2 VS. RE HC

i am looking to buy 2 15" subs and i have basically narrowed my search down to these. the price is about the same and i am just looking for the best sub. which gets louder? which has better SQ? which is more reliable. if i get the magnums i will probably be running 750 watts apiece. and if i get the HC's i will probably be running 1000 watts a piece. thanks guys

I have no experience with the D2 but I do have a 12" HC. The HC in my opinion is a great sub. Not really a SPL Comp sub but it can get loud and sound good doing it. I've used as little as 300 watts and up to 1000wtts for my HC in 2.5 -3.5 cu ft ported boxes. The end results were all good as far as sound. I was disappointed with the mic readings I got on the Lin X though.

From talks about the D2 though, I don't think you could go wrong either way. Flip a coin.

I also have 2 12" HC's but I am only running one because they are power hogs. I am currently runnin 500 watts or so to mine (if i run the full 1250 of my amp I will have no other electronics including headlights). Anyway, with 500 watts it sounds great, has good quality, and is somewhat loud. Of course mine is in a sealed box and the HC's were meant to perform well in 2 cube ported enclosures around 30 hz or so. I believe snova had one of these in a big ported box and hit 145's or so which isnt bad for one sub. I would say in the right ported box two 15's would be retardedly loud and sound great at the same time.

However, I have also heard that the magnums can get loud and they have AWESOME Sq. The choice is yours though and you will be happy with either one..

well, the magnums are 12's...u probably already know that, but just makin sure you do. Also, i would DEFINITELY say that the magnum is more comparable to the XXX than to the HC. It has AMAZING sound quality...and will get **** loud (just ask dustin!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif....and me when i get my shit completed) I am almost positive that the magnum will win in both areas...hands down. Also, tha magnum will take more power than recommended. I for example, will be using an avionixx 1200.2 on each of mine. The HC is no doubt a GREAT sub, but the magnum outperforms it. peace

you may not need 15's w/ the d2's.
