Xplod skipping CD - fixable?

My Sony Xplod CDX-F5710 CD is skipping. Before I replace it I thought I would see if it's fixable. It's quite a good unit - good reception & sound quality. Is there a way to open it and at least clean out the crud to see if that helps? Thanks.

Tried a CD cleaner; didn't work. I'm thinking the track the laser runs on could be dirty.

May need a new CD transport. Call United Radio and see if they can help. I think its a flat $85 fee for a new CD transport.

If you really like the deck you may want to try an external CD changer hooked up to it...
