Xmax????

My current sub has a xmax of 7.7 and I want to upgrade to a better sub for quality and performance.

For example the Sundown e8v2 has a xmax of 10.5 so exactly how will the sub with a greater xmax value perform. Better???

Some say it's all about how much your cone penetrates the air, but there is more to it than just that. Its just one spec of your sub.

xmax is linear cone excursion. That means a lot in some situations, less in others. Either way, even 10.5mm is pretty low these days.

Ok with all that being said is there ways by just looking at the specs from one sub to another that compared to I can see that the next sub I buy will be an upgrade and I wont spend money and get the same sound and quality l already have???

Do you know the tuning of that ported 8 box was?

Look at the Boston Acoustics G1 12-44 or G2-12-44, you can find both for under $100 shipped.

Infinity Ref 1262w is another good sub for under $100 shipped.

Both subs have lesser power ratings than what you have to work with, but I have owned all and I assure you they will take 425wrms no prob.
