xenon 600.1 vs. KX 600.1

i am looking at both of these amps but i cannot decide on one. i get get either one from ebay new for about 230$. i would be using it to power a treo ss. its rms power handling is 500watts. its d2. which of these two would be better. which amp has a higher possibility of putting out more than 600w@1 ohm. which one has better features.

if your woofer is a Dual 2, the KX6001 won't work, it wants a 2 ohm load.

If you are planning for a net 2 Ohm load, the Kicker gets my vote. It's smaller and very powerful.

Supposedly, yes.

Though it will void your warranty and is not endorsed by PG. Not something worth trying, IMHO.

And it's not really a "mod".....you just put a delay circuit on the outputs so that when the amp turns on it doesn't initially see a load present since the delay circuit won't open until after the amplifier is already on....and this supposedly circumvents the internal program which regulates output at varying impedances. Though I've never seen any confirmation that this actually works other than a few word-of-mouth posts.

My vote goes to the KX. I beat the crap outta mine and I love it. Doesn't skip a beat. I would buy one again in an instant.

Am a big Kicker fan and a bigger PG fan. Being that I've owned both, the PG takes the cake for me. I'm sure the Kicker does it as well but even though the PG amp states 600 from 1-4 ohms, but tested it did 712 at 2 ohms. Is your SSi an older model ? I have a SSi10.44 rated at 750wrms.

its actually the ss which is just like the ssi minus the 750wrms. it does 500wrms instead.

I don't know if that's true anymore. My last JL Slash amps had a "Made in China" declaration on the boxes while the PG Xenons have "Made in Korea" imprinted. I've visited many contract manufacturing plants in mainland China -- some are world class, some are just dogs. The Korean plants for the most part have better engineering and QC so I'd give the Korean a slight edge in electronic manufacturing. Sorry on the off topic.
