My Phoenix Gold Xenon 600.1 which has been faitfully pounding the hell out of an 05 type R for the last month recently stopped working. It still powers on, but goes straight into protect mode, with the led flashing. Checked all connections, they are fine, and the sub is only a month old as well, and should not be blown. Running gain very low and very little eq boost (2db). Any ideas? Its possible a few drops of water hit the amp and could have made their way to the circuit board since my trunk seal isnt to hot, but if that was the case i think it wouldnt even power on. Any suggestions/ ideas/ similar experiences?

my friend had a hifonics zeus sub that was blown so bad that the coil was stuck, and it made the amp go into protect mode.. no sound at all.. try another sub.. if it works then yours is blown.. otherwise yes, water could cause all kinds of different problems.. but try another sub first.. he wasnt over powering it, but we suspect the buick factory stereos shitty output was the reason for the sub blowing, cause it was always great in his truck with his premeiere.. but used for a while in GFs car and it blew.. his amp was fine

put a dmm on the sub and make sure its not blown...i have seen these amps gfo through hell and back and they came out fine

Go figure, my 1200.1 went out yesterday, and it was the amp the sub is fine...Getting mine repaired over the weekend. Been going strong for about a year and some change. The ironic part of all this is that when it went out, i was picking up a buddy from HiFi Buys who is getting his stuff installed. Not 1 min out of the parking lot and POP! there goes me amp. Hope you get yours fixed as well man, they are **** good amps.

I don't like hearing all these stories about recent Xenons failing. I just bought a 200.2 to replace the PPI that was running my fronts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

my 200.2 broke in 5 days

went into protect mode and flashing lights etc...

The Xenons I later found out had a huge failure rate

then they later tried to cover it up by saying it was only the first batch of amps they made when in reality it was all of them..

Hence why they are in so much trouble-

Its time to move on and buy a new amp,PGs largest mistake was

ending the Tantrum line and creating the Xenon line:rolleyes:

Great, I just bought a x600.1 and it shipped yesterday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I heard that after the first batch started failing they re-worked the rest and that's why they'll bench MUCH higher than rated (800+ for the x600.1).

tis true... still great amps.. you have purchased mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i wouldnt worry, i have never read a single negative post of the x600.1 until this one.. too many positive posts to believe they are problematic..

not sure man.. they only failuers i have seen were the x1200.1 and x200.4. the rest we really never saw fail but a couple of times... the x600 we had here the other day the guy stripped his wire and shoved them in and they were frayed everywhere.. touching the metal cover and heatsink of the x600... the amp was turning on and just not playing at all.. we started troubleshooting it and the amp was of course the first thing we checked... we un-hooked his crappy wiring job.. re-stripped all the wires and very neatly re-wired it.. the amp still works perfectly.. this thing should 150% been a dead amp right now...

the 200.2's are very much bulletproof...
Hope you're right. I fell in love after seeing the internals and reading a Dr. Fosgate review that detailed all the components and showed just how overbuilt these things are. For $130 shipped, I figured a new x200.2 would be a good replacement for a poor college student. I guess I'll see in a few weeks...
