xbl...will i like it?

I have never noticed a lack in output in that region with my xbl drivers when compared to a standard over hung driver. The reason many people think they lose authority is due to less distortion which leads to less harmonics in the mid to upper bass region. That just shows a flaw in their enclosure design. My xbl drivers have been able to get down to 20hz and lower with authority and sound every bit as loud as a standard sub I had that could also play flat down that low. There was a noticeable decrease in distortion but not in output.

You should like it, I sure do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As far as output loss, I never noticed any, just very smooth blended bass

It really depends, xbl is a very low distortion design and they tend to be very low end heavy , they will certainly hit the lows but you may not be happy with the perceived output because of the lack of distortion. A lot of people like the mild distortion put out by a standard designed driver

well, didnt the Brahma have xlb^2 and didnt Scottie Johnson use them in his wall back in the day? I assume he burped at a fairly high freq too...

xbl and dual gap (orion h2) are good for teh lows, but I havent found much more use for them than that... what does the RE MX have? I didnt like those but they got nasty low.

*edit* you know you hit the lows when you burp 43hz peak in a CRX (two H2 12.2's) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

That has everything to do with the parameters of the driver and the enclosure that is used. The motor topology does not inherently make the driver bottom end heavy. None of my xbl drivers have been bottom heavy and all have had excellent upper bass extension.

Ok sorry should have been more specific, the xbl's I have had or heard have been very low end heavy (ie brahma and shiva-x) . Absolutely awesome sound thoughjif you are into sound quality with great output at teh same time
