I have a thunderform box that i am installing in a 02 Dakota and am trying to decide which subs would perform best for my situation....they will be powered by an MTX TE601d amp and I will have a fairly nice set of components up front. All opinions are greatly appreciated. I know people are going to hate on the thunderform box but that is my only option. These are the speakers im looking into....

Pioneer Premier TS-SW 1001S4

JL Audio 10W1v2-4

Kicker CompVT 07cvt102

again any opinions are appreciated

and are the w1's 300rms or 150rms? different sites have them listed differently. the jl website says thermal power handling is 300 is that the same as continuous?

my mounting depth is 5 1/4 not 6" and i can't just buy a sub and build a box for it, i am limited to this option so i am asking opinions on what is best for this scenario, but thanks for that...

You said "about" so I figured you may have a little more/little less room....

What's the volume of the enclosure?

the only shallow sub ive heard was the kicker cvt, and that was at a local shop.. they have this room with a touch screen monitor with all these amps and subs wired and you can select which amp/sub combos you wanna hear so i put the cvt on the zx1500.1 (wanted to do the 2500.1 but it wasnt wired up that day) and that shit got loud.. didnt blow.. pounded pretty hard for what it was

thanks for the replies,

I checked the specs of the box and the mounting depth is exactly 5 1/4. the volume of the enclosure is 1.8. for the two subs, .9 for each.

I know the kickers get pretty loud but is the sound quality any good? Does anyone have any experience with the JL's? How do they sound compared to the Kickers both quality wise and in terms of volume?

Thanks again....

Could do eD SQ10's...though .9 is really big for them....

Could try these...

Tang Band WT-1427G

Dayton QT255-4

Dayton RSS265HO

I haven't really looked at the box limitations on these three, but know a few people that have run the HO for SQ, and am pretty sure they fit in small boxes. I don't know if it is pole vented though, something to look into.

these are just some other options though.....The TB is pretty cheap, wouldn't hurt to try.....
