X-overs on amps VS. in-line X-overs

hey i just sold my EQX because i want to get the EQS. the EQX only has two chanel inputs, meaning i have my front pre-out going to the EQX then the sub out to the amp.. i want to get the EQS(six-channel input btw..) so i can use the sub level control on my Head unit as a lot of you know. i JUST found out that the EQS doesnt have the programmable crossover feature. did i make a bad decision with sacrificing that programmable crossover to gain sub level control from the HU?? i have crossovers on my amp but i think the EQX crossovers had something to do with enhancing the sound a little??

Adding components to the signal chain only increases the risk of adding unwanted noise. The xover in your headunit and you're amplifier work the same way as an add on xover, the only advantage that an add on xover could have is a built in line driver and ajustable xover slopes.

The boost in RCA voltage and a steeper slope can make you're sub sound better by adding volume and reducing distortion(by cutting out more of the highs) but you can get the same sound with just your HU and amp all you need is to play with the settings alittle, increase your gain slightly and turn down your amps xover to a lower frequency for the same effect, also mixing your HU xover with you're amps xover can help in finding that perfect low pass slope and frequency.
