wtf

So I hook up my system.. 4 skar 8s on a kicker zx1500. I put c&d 50ah under the hood and a 100Ah in the rear. My first impression was I had something wrong, I could hear a "pop" and scratchy sound come from the subs. Not a mechanical sound but this was playing through the subs. Figured maybe the rcas, so I start checkin things out, rcas seem fine. Maybe a bad ground? I check that.. suddenly I hear a thunderous boom that flexes the whole truck while the truck is off! Turns out it instantly drained both batteries. Wtf could be going on here??

whats the final ohm load on all four?
2 ohm. The amp never cuts out or anything, but there is additional feedback coming through the subs along with the music. I'm thinking it has to be a ground issue since its doing this even with the truck off. Which I still don't understand how... lol

then re do the whole thing or try a different amp with same ground and see if its just a ground thats bad

Yeah I'm going to redo the grounds as soon as I get the batteries charged back up. On a side note, it got pretty loud for the few mins it worked. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

shouldn't be getting power with the car off, check remote wire to amps
the amp has a switch that allows you to change how it turns on, can either be through remote or when audio starts playing. I'm guessing it uses the rca signal. I didn't have a remote turn on hooked up at the time.
You said you were checking your grounds when this happened, EXACTLY how were you checking your grounds?
Just checking to see if they were secure and clean etc... I had cut power to the front battery by takin the fuse out of the holder. This was about the time I heard the loud boom and then had zero power

That was my reaction also. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I'm thinking it HAS to be a bad ground. I only have a 4gauge ground for the front batt and the second batt is grounded to the front batt. I ran out of 1/0 long enough for the battery ground, so I used some 4 because I figured it was better than just the factory ground.(which is like 12 gauge.lol)

I've used 4 gauge to ground a back batt for a week with no issues....

If u have a dmm set it to ac and with the system off check to see. If the amp is outputting anything also check and make sure u do t have the battery wires crossed

One of the leads on my dmm got cut so I didn't have one at the time. Plus it was 90 degrees and id been messing with it all day... kind of gave up at that point. Figured I,d ask and get some opinions before I started diagnosing.
