Can someone explain if this quote is valid. I'm definately still learning car audio, however I think this dude is full of shyte."If you're not familiar with Class D amps, know that they hit much harder than a normal 250/1 amp would." Take a look at the link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/JL-Audio-250-1-CLASS-D-Mono-Sub-Amp-NR_W0QQitemZ300099012107QQihZ020QQcategoryZ79827QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I guess what I'm really wanting to know what he means by saying class D amps hit harder.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

exactly..... noob talk. nothing more. Don't know if that is a good deal on that amp or not. Ignore what he says, he is a tard... if you want the amp and trust his feedback, buy it.

Class D does not "hit harder" than AB or A. It simply is more efficient. AB is about 60% efficiency, D is about 80%-95% efficient. More power for the same amount of current draw from your electrical system.

14.4volts, 10 amps draw AB amp at 60% efficiency = 144 watts - 40% = 86.4 watts

14.4volts 10 amps draw D Class amp at 90% efficiency = 144 watts - 10% = 129.6 watts

Same current draw, more power output than AB class.... so in essence, he is kinda right, for a tard anyway....

The real problem (to me) with his statement of "If you're not familiar with Class D amps, know that they hit much harder than a normal 250/1 amp would." is that the majority of monoblock amps are Class D! So a "normal" 250w, single-channel amp is going to automatically be a lesser amp because it isn't a JL slash-series amp?

What a moron.

Sellerspeak and nothing more...

n00b talk. he's trying to sell his amp, that's all.
class d amps are MADE for subwoofers & will be better for any subwoofer application.
that is 100% untrue.

class D amps are more efficent than class A\B amps and several other paramters are significantly different.

however, they work well with subwoofer applications because they create lots of wattage. they work great with many other systems than subwoofer applications.

Yep. Class D is for mids and highs too. Just have to have a higher switching frequency to prevent the switching noise from coming through the speakers. They already make Class D amps for mids/highs as far as I know. Class D is a mode of operation, and so far that I know of there are 2 different types of Class D. One type uses all N Channel FET's and the other uses N Channel and the lesser P Channel FET's... I like the all N Channel design. More rugged, less parts, same power.
