WTF rust

I just pulled my subs out of my box and the entire bottom of the magnets are covered in rust. The rust is coming up a few cm on the sides and the paint is flaking off around where the rust stops. My subs have been in my ported box in my trunk and it does not leak. THe magnets were covered in paint when I put them in.

WTF? Should I just leave them or would it be a good idea to try to stop the rust and repaint?

If you live close to the coast I dont see much stopping it. If you really care you could wipe the motor down with a wd-40 rag. I would just run whatcha got.

Sometimes it happens, man. I know for a fact that my trunk wasn't leaking, but my SA-15 ended up getting some condensation on it and rusting as well. Mine was, however, invert-mounted - so it was probably more prone to said problems than your subs.

Overall, I don't see it hurting much, as long as you don't mind the looks of them. That is, whenever you actually see it.

Yeah, I'm about 10 miles from the beach. That explains it.

sand with some 220, then step down to like 600, then 800. then prime, paint, and do a few clear coats. Prime with rustoleum rust stop, make sure to cover any vents. thats what I would do.
