hey for about two months now ive had a problem where my sub-woofer amp will all of a sudden shut off. ill know because all of a sudden the sub will stop playing.. its a mtx 1501d and its modified to run at 1 ohm. it is also wired to 1 ohm. i thought it mightve been a loose ground or positive wire all this time. the amp shut off again today so i pulled over to confirm the problem with a DMM. when i check, i see that IM GETTING CONSTANT VOLTAGE AT THE SUB AMP at all times when its not working.. so for sure, there is no loose connection.. i checked all the readings and they were fine... the amp get 15 volts when my car is on and so does it's remote input. everytime the amp shuts off, ill pull over to check the connections with a DMM and sure enough, im getting 15 volts everywhere im suppose to.. so i guess i have no choice but to condemn the amp... but what could possible cause it to shut off sometimes then all of a sudden start working a minute or two later out of nowhere??? everytime it shuts off i wait and itll come on by itself eventually.. itll happen about 3 or 4 times a day.. why????????? im so frustrated right now.. i wouldnt be if it was just a simple loose wire.. but the fact is i know the amp is getting power in the right amount everywhere its suppose to.. remote and positive.. and grounded. someone please help..

well i just ran to to the car to check.. (i got home about 10 minutes ago) and i would say its fairly hot considering its been 10 minutes since its been off.. but at the same time its in the trunk of a carpeted black car.. but if youre implying that i might be overpowering it, im pretty sure im not.. i set the gain with a dmm to produce 1000 watts @ 1 ohm when playing a 50hz sine wave at 0 db.. the problem also happens when im playing music low.. i doubt im sending it a clipped signal but if i were to send it one, would it behave the way its behaving???

and if it matters - i have an EQ that is tweeeking the crap outta the highs, and the highs are being powereed by a 2 channel mtx and its not having any problems..

yea ill try to get them up tomorrow when i get to work.. hopefully someone can give me some insight before then and even better, solve my problem!!
