WTF moment of the day...

Well, people say that abortion is an example. So... if someone has a religious belief that abortion is wrong, shouldn't they work to make it illegal? Shouldn't they vote for other people with like-minded views?
Yes, but the legislator's opinion should not have an effect. He should vote the will of the people.

and may i add, not get payed for it. why do we have representatives anymore? this isn't the 1800's were we need people to go to congress and speak for US. we can take our votes to congress ourselves now.

AAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDD the will of the people elect those people who they wish. So all this hoopla in campaigning now, people talking about their views and beliefs is how we determine who is going to most accurately represent our beliefs, right?

So, if you're elected by espousing a certain viewpoint, then obviously people agreed that you should be in place to put that viewpoint into action, right?

Conscience and religious beliefs are the same, IMO.

You may be right, but people are fighting that idea because the fact is that is annoying as hell to every reasonable human being that can zoom out from their own little windows through which they view the world, of which there aren't enough to create a distinction between the two when dealing with national political climates.

hey flip - you remember that whole US is a republic and not a democracy thing we talked about?

i just saw another commercial on TV talkin about how we are a democracy...see, now how can you expect me to know that were a republic when im fed BS all the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Don't worry guys, Stephen Colbert is running for president...

Not that that has to do with anything.

The way I see things, I'm religious, I do believe there is a higher power, but also believe he gave us the ability to make decisions on our own, I mean Adam did eat the apple even though he was told not to, right? With that said, something like abortion or gay marriage which seems to be brought up all the time, it's a very hard subject to debate, BUT I don't think my religious views on the matter should get in the way of another person's decisions. Basically, if you're gay, and you want to get married, by you I could mean anyone in the entire US.A, why should I be worried about it? Your decision to have butt *** with another man, should never really impact my life, so how can one say that it's bad because it's against a religion, when chances are, they two gay men (or woman whatever) probably aren't religious at all, so how can my religious views on the matter hold any weight, when the people at hand don't even believe in a God, let alone mine?

Abortions as well, I do disagree with them completely, if you think you're old enough to partake in ***, then you should be old enough to deal with the responsibilities that will follow. However, if a woman I'll never meet feels it's in her best interest to have an abortion, then let her, I guess the only way that would affect me is if my tax dollars go to paying the people at an abortion clinic, but I don't like to think of it like that, though it may be true. BUT, the only upside I see to an abortion, is if you feel an abortion is the only way out, then you probably would have made a really shitty parent anyway, and I guess you did the kid a favor, so that he/she wouldn't have been raised in a poor environment. Though the other side to that is there are lists miles long of people wanting to adopt because they cannot have children on their own. Woman say that it would be too hard to give up a child after giving birth to it, so an abortion is just easier, well maybe you should have thought it through before you let him squirt his pudding juice in you, dumb *****.

And thats that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think y'all should change the US laws about being born in the US to become President and vote Arnold in.......
There is actually a lot of people* who thought this would happen as part of some grandiose New World Order master plan.

*people may have been wearing tinfoil hats

The problem with peoples outlook on abortion is most are 100% for or against it, there isnt much else between.

IMO, you're right. However, there are situations were the mother may be at risk were it should be considered, or if they find out the baby is going to be ill for the rest of its life.

There are even better examples, like ****. 100% for abortion at that point, however I cant stand hearing some b!tch went in and aborted a 5+ month pregnancy & was 100% healthy. THAT, is what makes me want to pull out the chain saw. That, should be considered murder. Things like that, are whats F***ed up.

True, I guess I sit somewhere in between. I don't want to say that it's either 100% correct or wrong, it should be looked at in a case by case basis.

Florida passed a law that any woman under the age of 18 could not get an abortion w/o parental consent. Woman Congressionalists were fighting this with, in certain cases it's the father who ***** their daughter, and now the daughter can't get an abortion w/o daddy's permission.

An extreme case, but I'm sure it happens, though not so much in Florida as maybe Arkansas.
