Sounds like the driver for your CD burner is gone. Try going to your manufacture's website and finding the driver for your computer.

It had a cd/dvd burner built in... single drive dell dimension 8250 3-4 yrs old

always burnt off itunes... i tried my other cd burn program and nothin with that either... Tthat one said something like, make sure ur cd drive is plugged in and all cables are connected..Well i got none of those since its internal....

i think i read somewhere that you cant burn itune downloaded songs to CD? i could be mistaken though.. to confirm this, try burning one mp3 file to cd that wasnt downloaded from itunes.

lemme try to play a cd...maybe that will work if not im assumiing its the entire drive

ok tried a cd.. the green light came on for the drive then went out , just like the blank cd.. Even with a regular cd , nothing opens to play it.. Dead drive?

it means iTunes sucks hairy monkey balls....

I hate iTunes...

but if your other program isn't working it's not iTunes causing the problem... CD burning issues can be a real ***** to diagnose....

have you tried the obvious yet? (reboot, reinstall iTunes, check for running proc using CD burner, re-install/update drivers?)

Try going through My Computer?

Restart your computer. Check in control panel device manager see if there is a ! there. uninstall it then reinstall it, same thing with the driver.

I had a ! in the control panel... Couldnt figure out what it was, i ran a diagnostic and said error in dvd/cd-rw drive D .. rebooted and it worked fine... Burnt the cd and everything... Weird
