Thinking about buying one of these in the next couple years. Haven't look to far into it but want to get some opinions up front (preferably from owners) but as always, all opinions are welcome... Just have some reasoning behind it.

What makes you want this car? performance? reliability? comfort?
from what i can see, it has all of that. but if i have to put those in order, i'll say reliability then performance then comfort. i already think it looks pretty slick. not a fan of the 4 doors but i've got a thing for the Coupe's. I'd love to get one of those and throw a good system for my daily bump.

I love mine. Very comfortable, not too bad on gas mileage, i got about 28mpg in the city (but i drive like an old man); price wasnt too bad; and my whole family could ride in it with me. was a pain trying to run 4ga wire to the trunk through the firewall though.

Eh, I have never owned one, and yes they look pretty cool. I personally have a thing about buy a car from a company that has gone out of business. I have also heard bad things about the other pontiac vehicles i.e. grand am and grand prix.

But again, I have never owned one so take what I have said with a grain of salt.

(I have never been a fan of pontiac though even before they went under. My guess is that they went under for reasons other then the recession. They probably would have gone under anyway, but the recession just sped up the process)

Kinda bias but I respect the review regardless. I can understand not trusting a company thats gone under but i personally feel like they would of been fine without the recession but who knows. i still see a lot of old am's and prix's around which gives me a little comfort

You heard wrong. Anything with a 3.1 from Pontiac and up is **** near bullet proof. I just sold my Grand Prix GT for $2500 with 190K on it and it was 11 years old. As with any car keep up on regular maintenance it will last a long *** time. The only major repair I had was the transmission. It went out on me 3,000 miles after my warranty was up, but I had club discounts and a mechanic that had the tools to drop it, clean it, employee discount, and rebuilt it as a ZZP racing transmission for $350.

6crnbnh: i don't see why not to be honest. just means less ppl will have it. repair places will still know how to fix it: my top concern.

Louisiana_CRX: G8 is a great car. looking for a 2-door though. cant see myself regretting it in comparison

whitedragon551: this is good news. thats a heck of a deal on the transmission too

The ****** without the discount, 3.29 gears, 4th gear hardened input shaft, and upgrade torque converter was $1800 without installation. I had the same exact thing built by hand by a Certified head mechanic from Pontiac for $350. The only issue with the trannies in the Grand Prixs was the 4th gear input shaft. They didnt use hardened steel for the stock one from 97-03. After issues started popping up they replaced it with a hardened steel one. I had probably 80K on the transmission when I sold it and it was basically brand new.

I drive a grand prix and have never had any issues. And the line was just discountiued not went out of business. Aftermarket companies will still make parts as its still GM and many parts are interchangeable. When i went to bu my car i was looking at g6's alot. there great cars for the value. Just my .02

Sounds pretty modest that you sold if for 2500 knowing all of that WD551.
The body was **** near mint. I should have listed it for much more as it had about 3,000 in performance parts alone. Needless to say as long as the G6 has a Series II V6 or Series III V6 it will be **** near bullet proof and well worth the money. Ive seen the Series II go over 300,000 easily without issues.
