My eyes opened up when i seen a single 13W7 on 1200 watts pull a 43 out of a trunk in a music box(not JL specs) sealed on the dash, and again when 2 13w7s hit a 49.9 at the headrest of ONLY 2000 watts in a music box(not JL specs). Not outrages numbers but for a SQ based sub, thats impressive.

Exactly. The JL w7s get pretty surprising outside of JL prefabs and whatnot. A lot of ppl who have em don't know what they're doing, so I guess they come off as weak to some ppl....

The 8W7 is bad-a$$. I've been a car audio professional and/or hobbyist for over two decades and the 8W7 may be one of the most impressive drivers I've ever used. You would be hard-pressed to find another 8 that delivers the SQ, output, and build quality that the 8W7 does. All that being said $300+ each is a lot of money...kinda...The reason I say 'kinda' is when I consider what the rest of my system cost (Scanspeak Revelator mids and tweets, Alpine F1 Status x-overs, Morel SW9 midbass...) $300 really isn't that much...Hell just one of my mids costs about $250. Can you buy more subwoofer for the money? Sure can. A $200 TC Epic 12 from PE would destroy an 8W7 in just about every way...doesn't mean it's the right driver for the job, but it will certainly (generally) out perform an 8W7. As far as 'value' goes...it's really in the wallet of the beholder...

One of my friends sold me a new 13.5 W7 for 400 so that's what I have for now. Is it bad to have an amp that's 2100 rms with that sub? I guess my question is can amps or subs be damaged by underplaying them
