too much port = cone area of your sub usually....some shit like that. your 12 should only need like 45-50

Yea, you're right. For some reason, I was thinking Sd for a 12" driver was closer to 90sqin. I'll probably do something closer to 40-50.

Where do I need to go to get the braces?

I have never used them for bracing but I would assume Lowes or maybe even walmart would have them pretty cheap.
