WOT-- Alpine HU, CASSETTE FAQ

Firstly, thanks for any suggestions/ideas

So I have a Head unit circa '96-- Alpine. I have a tape head cleaner that says 'run the tape'. The alpine is fancy and choses not to run the tape because it's non-magnetic with no information on it-- of course, because it's a cleaning strip with alcohol on it. SO, the thing just flips itself back and forth looking for something to play.

Has anyone disabled this feature to allow for a proper head cleaning on any HU? Any recommendations for an Alpine?

The manual simply says "clean the heads." I did a google to no avail.

Again-- it's an old (but good) unit, there must have been a work around at the time.... ideas?
