woofers?

I am gearing up for my first system and tested some of my music out on a JL system at the audio store. I remember it was running a 12" W6 sub. I'm planning on a W7.

The issue was when I put chants and most orchestra on what I got was decent trebble but little bass. When the sub would pick up base notes it was a dominating force though. I need more bass in my music. would a pair of woofers (not subs) in addition to the sub remediate this problem? Are JL woofers good for sq? and do i need a third amp to power them?

For what you're doing, I'd say the W6v2 is a better choice...you can't go by what you hear in an audio store.

For large-scale orchestral works, you need pretty stout midbasses, yes. You'll need an amp for them, and a way to run the front stage active...

Well, I want the W7 because I like to have the power, even if I dont use it often, as a just-in-case. That's just the way I am. My car is a 300ZX (subcompact hatch with a 3L hemi racing engine) ut its never seen above 90 in my hands. Also its so if a COMMON thumper is next to me downtown blasting their hip-hop I can just drown them out (at leas inside my car) with Bach's greatest pipe-organ works or Carmina Burama.

Thanks for the woofer suggestion. Do they need any enclosure space and what would be a fair price to look for them?

They really need to maintain stereo separation just like the rest of the speakers...I'd recommend door or kickpod mounting.

What do you have for a front stage already? Usually, going with large midbasses requires a 3-way setup with tweets, a 3-4" midrange and the midbasses, usually between 6" and 8".

If you already have a 2-way setup, it may be cheaper just to try to improve that as much as you can. Sound deadening and sealing up all holes in the door will go a long way...

If you are talking about the Carl Orff production thats Carmina BuraNa genius...

Yeah, yeah. My spelling is bad, ha-ha-ha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif. but as far as the setup goes, I haven't put anything in yet. It just so happens tho that my 300zx has 2 spots right behind the seats where a pair of 6" bose used to sit. It wouls make a perfect spot for some woofers.
