Woofer Speaker wire size

Does this look like too small of wire for 1000wRMS. It runs from VC1 to VC2 like the green wire here, only for my sub the interconnects are on exact opposite sides of the woofer. Is this wire too small for my application? I have some kicker 14ga lying around I could use.

IMO......yes thats too small, I would get some 10-12gauge wire for subs....

12ga would be overkill for that setup, but its probably what Id use. Anything bigger than that is a waste.

Alright then, I'm gonna replace it with the biggest I can find around the house, and will check the tinsel size compared with my kicker wire. The sub is just about broken in, so I should notice a difference if it will make one.

It's gonna be a ***** to take it out.. ;(

imo 4 guage is a waste for anything under like 20kw at .5 ohms...or 10 kw at .25 overall.

Some of you guys should like at a line loss chart, remembering that your amplifier does not output 12 volts, but considerably higher. Running 8ga is simply for looks, unless you're Steve Meade.
