woodpecker noise

i got a new amp and hooked it up to an american bass dx-15, i've never had a good enough amp to power one of them to what they're rms says so i thought it would be interesting. the amp bridged at 4 ohm mono says it's rms would be 400, and the speakers rms is 350 so would this of been too much for it? at first it got moving fine then it made a woodpecker noise for a few seconds and the surround started ripping. im just wondering if this was from overpowering the sub? i was under the impression that sony overrated their amps and that this sub could handle a little more than it's rms but maybe im wrong.

just by ears lol, i didn't notice any distortion at a normal volume(18ish). this happened at 24 volume though, the bass boost was at it's default setting however. could it of caused the sub to move any more than it shouldof?
