Woodies or Half Changs...?

I'm gettin ready to build somehting in a week or so and still cant decide what i want to do. I origionally was going for a pair fo Half Changs with Pioneer B20's and a cheap dayton tweeter, but after looking at the Woodies, I don't know. The Woodies are ~$150 plus wood, about twice the cost of the full ranges. The one thing that is gettin me stuck is I know I'll have to give up low end (in favor of the woodies I would think with the 10") or overall sound quality (in favor of full ranges????). What's yalls opinions? This is going in a 12x11 room and will be moved into a 15x25 room for "gatherings".

I'm going to throw my vote in for the Half Chang with a tweeter. The Woodies frankly aren't that impressive to me (aside from the unique cabinets), and they won't have spectacular bass output anyways, and the sealed cabinet won't help much either. The Goldwood driver and the B20 both have similar Fs and the horn loading will enhance efficiency of the B20 for sure so I doubt the Woodies would really provide much more low end. There is also the visual appeal of a horn speaker and it should be perfect for your "gatherings".

On a side note, anyone notice the new Dayton 4" full range? Looks like the TBs have got some competition...

If these are anything like the rest of their RS line, they'll be epic. Let's not mention off-axis response though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Half Changs it is... I might start on them sometime next week, but the drivers want be ordered for a couple weeks. I'm saving up for a TV. But I'll get progress pics some point in time.

Its actually more like a 3-3.5 inch, hence the fairly low sensitivity value...
Very exiting driver. After I finish my pods and I get some extra money I am swapping out my Aura drivers to see how they compare //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Technically it isn't a horn...just a BVR( big vent reflex) or a ported enclosure with a flared port that acts as a waveguide...
On that note, the waveguide definitely gives the cabinets a quality bass...and they dip fairly low, 30-40hz in room...
