Without further delay... 12 inch test session is OPEN

To sum it all up,
RL-P for teh win
Can we see the results from your tests to validate that?

Thought so. You like it, so good for you. I owned a pair, no complaints about them, but arguing with the results of these tests wont get you anywhere.

be careful what you say Jim... some people among us who affiate with a certain buildhouse, seem to think we're throwing results on some drivers...
which pisses me off to no end...

Loyd L.
Of course people are going to say that. Their driver of choice didn't perform the way they thought it would, so we instantly fudged the results. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/plthumbsdown.gif.d7966af824c93c6021d1aae1778b1c19.gif

Is there a reason why the Assassin wasn't judged for SQ or was it one of the results that didn't get posted? Many people consider them to be SQ drivers and many people buy them for that reason.
I'm not complaining or *****ing, but just curious.
The Assassin wasn't tested for SQ because I ran out of 12awg quick disconnects...instead of binding posts or hex terminals, AA decided to use the bottom-of-the-barrel quick disconnect terminals.

My apologies to those who were looking for that...as we test more drivers in the future I'll make sure to include the Assassin.

Wow, I can't believe they use quick disconnects on their subs. I didn't think any company used them, besides on mid woofers. That's not a good way to cut corners imo.

Wow!, even my supposedly crappy Xplod's use binding posts.....

I still can't believe the 12" hit a 139.2 on the burp.....only 7.7 below the Funkin' Audio MF but it did it at about 1/4 the power.........

A used Shiva would beat it for accuracy...I have no experience with the new ones, so I can't comment on those.
If you want to stay under $100, I'd prowl the classifieds...there are plenty of drivers out there that sonically trump the Mach5. Lower end Eclipse, older RE (SE series comes to mind), Soundsplinter, etc, etc. Go to DIYAudio or HTGuide and see what they're recommending.
Ah, well, to each his own I guess. I find them very musical in a home audio environment loaded in a properly designed box. They really come into their own after about 50 hours of workout.

Thought I would use them in my 'all out' sub design:
