I need to say that you guys did an outstanding job on the tests. But I am getting annoyed that some people are taking Jim tests as if the 11th commandment was just written. Yes Jim is an all out SQ guy, he knows his stuff, BUT!!!!!!!! you have to freaking understand that these are HIS findings in HIS install. Just becuase it sounds great to Jim, does not always mean it will sound the same to you.
Also, there is no winner in this test, there are subs that faired well in the SPL, and subs that faired well in Jims SQ test, and some that did well in both, and some that did not do well overall. But that does not mean you should shy away from some of these drivers because how they produced in this test. Everyone has slightly different tastes on how they percieve the way low end frequencies should be produced. Jim did a great job on his tests, gave a good deal of information and did this all out of his own free time. He did not have to do it, but he did it because he loves this stuff. These guys did a ton of work in a very limited amount of time and gave us a great deal of information. If someone has to base their buying choice on this test, there are so many factors that have to be taken into play, if your going on SQ, ask your self, do you drive a large van or a small compact car, because that will effect it. Do you have a large budget? Do you have a great deal of power? Do you have space to go ported? I am not trying to defend any one driver, because I love many of the ones in the test and could not pick a favorite even if paid to do so. I am just trying to say that people need to think about all the factors, the JL W7 did well and so did the Mach5 but they are in completely different price brackets and can handle much different loads of power.
Sorry for the rant, but this was a well organized well excuted test and some people are taking it the wrong way.
