With all this talk of loosing weight .....

I started the nutrisystem thing and lost about 15lbs but the food gets old FAST

So no I'm on atkins and loving it. Workout every morning for a couple hours and it's going good so far.

I'm 6'3" and weigh around 290. Was 300+ before.

Normally I would say the standard, take a supplement, get to the gym and monitor your intake and time out your meals. This is a tad bit more difficult with the Thyroid/ had cancer hip situation.

I would still recommend every 2-3 hours for meals (although I am not sure how the metabolism plays that out with your thyroid...do you have that controlled?)

Low carb, high protein very very VERY few simple sugars (that includes almost all fruit). Consider swimming if you can handle it on the hips as its such low impact.

Well I am no expert, but since I started my job working fast food in the middle of June, I have lost 30lbs. (6,1-189 now)

All I did before was play WoW and drink 5+ vaults a night and sleep all afternoon, very unhealthy.

Since I got my job, I have started eating Oatmeal everyday, you can eat it with water, but it tastes terrible, but if you use milk it won't be much at all...

Stop drinking gatorade, try to drink a lot of water, where your urine is clear at all times, usually 5-6 bottles a day do it for me, your body needs water.

And last I did was pretty much starve myself, since I didn't think about eating while working, people say this slows your metabolism down and it's unhealthy, well I don't care because I have lost a lot of weight not eating.

But if you have the chance to eat try eating 5-6 times a day but low low amounts, I would try to limit it to the size of your hand ( like a handful of almonds etc).

atkins is great if u wanna look good for a wedding but the second u go back on carbs, u will blow back upto as big if not bigger then u were previously.

They always say the real key to losing weight and keeping it off is, staying consistant with your diet and exercise of a long period of time....even if it's small ammounts.

I read once that oatmeal is the best possible thing u can eat in the mornings...u wanna make sure this is your biggest meal of the day......and i recommend making "snack bags" for the times between breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Using walnuts, almonds, raisens, granola, etc etc. Eat a smaller lunch, like a sandwich on a whole grain bread...no more white bread if u do eat it.

Because your hips are good but will wear faster, i suggest swimming....the earlier in the day the better. You dont' even having to kick your legs to swim and it's a great full body work out.

Try to drink water....like have a water bottle with u at all times and gum, chew lots of gum.

Also little things like parking in the back of the parking lot if u don't do it already, taking the stairs.

You also have to remember, do u wanna be healthy now while yoru still fairly young or die of a heart attack or some other problem due to weight issues early?

peanut butter is actually REALLY good for you. PB&J on white isn't bad at all for a lunch, I'd add some white meat into that too though. Eat a few pieces of turkey or grilled chicken a couple of hours after that sandwich.

Without having a thyroid and having bad hips would make it hard to get on any kind of hard exercise program, Maybe start just walking a few miles a day? You can walk around 4 miles in an hour just with a rapid pace, not really hard on your bones.

ANYTHING that gets your heart rate up will make you burn fat and calories.

Maybe just buy a set of free weights and do some upper body iso (sitting) exercises that will gain muscle.

Remember the FASTEST way to burn fat is to do muscle training, you can't turn fat into muscle (doesn't work like that) but as your body is creating muscle its burning fat

i agree with you...but make sure you have sugar free gum, chewing gum actually burns calories too lol.

I drink between 2 and 3 gallons of water a day, always have water with me and try to always have some cashews or some sunflower seeds (unsalted)

Don't season ANYTHING with salt and pepper salt will make you pack up a few more pounds of water weight

Dan, when I wake up in the morning I make a protein shake with 2 scoops of wheybolic (gncs protein brand) and 8 oz of milk, I take 3 of those a day, for lunch I either have a fruit salad with a handful of almonds or cashews, a pasta with some grilled shrimp or chicken, a spinach salad, or a sandwich with tons of turkey.

Dinner I try to eat a steak with baked potato or grilled chicken and some whole kernel corn or something like that.

You have to have some kind of exercise though to gain muscle

17.5'' bicep when I was training for the CPAT for the fire department.

I've went down to around 17'' now from slacking off, starting to get back into it again gonna try to get up to a 19'' bicep and try to stay around 230

I have lost about 20 pounds just by not drinking pop and eating less of everything. Still eating shitty foods. I rarely work out too.

Once I hit the bowflex, I will start to shred mor of it, but I have to be motivated to do that, lol!

I say a bowflex might work for you, not much strain on you and you would get a good work out with it. I will sell you mine, aha!

Honestly though, it will be a lot harder for you to lose weight due to the thyroid problem. Just keep on keeping though and hopefulluy it will come off.

My 3 step weight loss plan...

1. Dexatrim, Nutrigrain Bar and a slimfast shake for breakfast and lunch

2. A couple baked bbq chicken breasts for dinner

3. Lots of water, about a gallon a day

You will lose weight fast, but if you dont excercise with it you will still be unhealthy

Buy a recumbant exercise bike. I have one and they are pretty nice and very low impact, but it is covered in dust and spiderwebs and I am ascared of spiders so I cant get to it:(

Possibly the best excuse to not work out ever? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I mean you can't eat some off the shelf brand full of sugars, salts, and additives.

You need a 100% natural peanut butter.

FULL of unsaturated fats, average in carbs, TONS of protein, and most have over 20 grams if Iron.

Most of the body builders I know eat a tablespoon of PB a day (a serving is usually 2)

They said it tastes great, gets rid of some of the monotony of eating oats every morning too.

Peanut Butter is one of the good "bad" foods, like cashews, almonds...almost any nut with no salt added.
