Car audio is made with more strands and thus is far more flexible but is generally twice the price. Get welding wire from here. Same stuff. Slightly less flexible.

If he needs a wiring kit he'll need the other stuff anyways so no real reason to go for welding wire. The amount you'll save is so minimal too.

 
Knu is great and so is JL, Knu is less expensive but some places have JL 8ga kits for really good prices! However I have used both both are good and I would recommend knu //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif just if you get there kit order better RCA's, the RCA's that come in there kits are meh at best. IMO not worth running, but there upper line RCA's are much better

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.

Yup , the dsp should have input sections, it may have one for sub? Hu to dsp. Dsp to amps, amps to speakers. Probably help you to draw this all...
