im not exactly understanding what you are saying, but if you have the constant (car harness) to the acc (radio harness) the radio will turn on but not save settings.
constant -> 12v

acc -> acc

the harness colors dont always match. then again i could be way off...

well i explained that to him, if he has them on the acc instead of the 12v connection then he gets this prob, now when you switch both the acc and the constant or memory(from the hu) to the straight 12 or constant from the battery then you have power all time to the hu as well as the memory or the constant right? so in order to do it the right way is to hook up constant to constant and acc to acc right? i dotn know but i think this is right lol.. and yes harness colors don't always match up but p out of ten hu try to use some what the same color code(while you must know the right wire from the car because those are almost never the same) its all really common sense. the reason i told him to do it the way i did is because he already has the acc(obviously or it wouldn't be working at all) so all he NEEDS to do is find the constant from the car if I'm not mistaken and rerun that component instead of running the hu off the constant as well which is what he was asking if you where telling him to do up top. i was attempting to give him the right way to do it the first time so as to not be upset with having to have to turn off the hu every time he gets out and eventually getting back into the dash to fix it.

well i got 2 runs of 16awg but you only need bout one HUs dont need alot of power like amps they just need enough to turn them on even a run of 12awg would work

i am definatley going to try what you said first...just use my tester and poke the wires with they keys out and the one that lights up is the constant right? i got it now lol ty

lol ya, last resort is running a wire all the way from the bat., i have also herd this technique from many mechanics, this is why my car will never be touched by anyone but me. no matter what you can look up the car and the wire schematics and find the wire(if its not working) and trace it down, its worth the time imo REALLY really worth it on nicer vehicles, once again i am just not a fan of rigging shit up i drive beaters but that is just because i can make them run forever until my gf wrecks them=)

lol i never let me gf drive my car to much money in it..but i have the repair book so i should be able to find the schematics if it aint working then the only problem would me fixing it ****ing toyotas lol
