Wiring the second battery?

i was wondering one thing bout a second battery do you run the pos from the alt or the pos terminal from the battery and does it help to run a ground from the front battery as well

Positive from the battery to the other battery with 2 fuses wired close to each.

batt+.........{}(fuse)................................................{}(fuse).......+batt

no no no. number one i didnt completely understand all of it and then you replied that you didnt completely understand my setup that you werent sure if i had one amp or 2 and after i replied with one amp i havent checked that thread since. i just did a little searching the other night and came across this, its not that i dont trust you lol i actually thank you.

quick question. i only have one fuse, and im going to buy another to put right in front of the rear battery. while looking at the diagram on page 2, will i need a third to put between the rear battery and amp? is that fuse necessary?

because I have 2 amps, i wired it with the 2 fuses like I said. Then I have positive going from the back battery to a fused distribution block. I guess to fuse that wire before it goes to the distribution block might not be necessary is you are using a fused block.

yes you should always put one between the amp and the battery

Why would you run 2 fuses between the batteries? One big one would be enough wouldn't it?

Because if the cable shorts in the middle of the run, the short will start drawing off both batteries and the front fuse will blow...but without a fuse in the rear, the short will continue to draw off the rear battery and bad stuff happens...
