Its been a few years since I installed a system in my cars myself, so I've forgotten some stuff.
I currently have 2 Alpine Type R DVC 4 10s running @ 2ohms x 2 on a Pioneer GM-A5702. My question is this, would it be better to leave these wired at 2ohm or bridge the amp to 1 channel @ 4ohm and wire the subs to a 4 ohm load or leave em at 2x2ohm channels? I cant remember the formula to figure total wattage to each coil based on total amp wattage.

Amp and sub specs follow:

Alpine Type R DVC 10s
500 Watt RMS (250 watts per coil)

GMA5702: 240 watts x 2 rms @ 2ohm
480 watts x 1 rms @ 4ohm bridged

Somebody help an old basshead please!!!! Thanks in advance

Leave it at 2x2ohm. You will get the samej juice out of the amp with easier wiring. Also not insulting your equipment, but I think Pioneer over rates their numbers and those Alpines are beasts. It might end up sounding bad. If anything you would be better off getting subs in the 150- 250 watt range. Or a better amp, but that would be more draw on the car's electrical.

Wire to the 2ohm diagram as shown for the MTX subs on the one amplifier you have. That amp should do very well on those two subs. alpine make some...

Sure, 600 volts, yep. If you’re trying to launch the subwoofer cones to the moon! And, that’s if they don’t just vaporize first!

Sell the dual 2 and get another dual 4.
