Wiring speakers using crossover

Ok when a cross over comes into place does it split the power evenly to the mids and tweeters? Lets say my amp puts 100 watts per a channel does that mean the tweeter will see 50 watts the mid see 50 watts?

It'll send 100w to each channel. However, just because your amp puts out 100 watts RMS, you'll rarely see that at either the speaker or the tweeter.

out of 100rms how much would the componets see continous i heard only around 50rms if that is true then cant u basically give a speaker thats rated for 100rms give it 200rms

I know but will both the tweeter and mid see 100 watts or does the crossover divide the the power?

from what i understand is each driver will pull what it needs to reproduce the music at the volume you are telling it to.

so yes they are sharing in that power that is available but its not limited to this speaker gets this and that speaker gets that.

im going to say that the tweet requires less power than the mid would.

i could be wrong but i think i was told that once.

so if a speaker is rated at 100rms i heard you could feed it 200 because its only going to see 100rms constantly is that true

if the speaker is rated at 100watts rms, it can handle 100watts rms..... trouble is the tweeters there usually the first thing to go when over powering splits
