I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire GT with a stock head unit. I bought a sony xplod head unit and tried to install it but ran into problems. First of all here is the head unit that I bought

Ok so i bought a GMCO harness with module so that it will retain the chime thing. I bought that off a guy that was selling it on kijiji and he guaratees that there is nothing wrong with it.
1- after installing the sony deck, i noticed that it STAYS on all the time, Even when you turn off the ignition. I know many will suggest that i have it wired to a constant 12 V but the thing is, I hooked the red wire from the head unit to the same red wire coming from the gmco module (where they say on their website that this red wire is an accessory 23 V)
2- When i turn up the music, or when a song has bass, the head unit loses power and regains power in like a second. What might this be? I read somewhere that it can be the factory speakers are **** or a bad ground?
3- I hooked the illumination wire of the head unit to the illumination wire of the harness but it does not dim when head lights are turned on (even with the dimmer settings set to auto). There is also a "dimmer" wire coming from the harness but i read somewhere that you should NEVER hook up the dimmer wire to the illumination of the head unit as it will fry the system.
I tried to follow wiring diargrams and was confident i did all wiring right before plugging in.
Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am freaking out.
