wiring remote power lead?

So my amp has a remote turn-on lead but i have a older headunit without a hookup for it. instead of tapping into the headunit power wire could i just wire it straight to the battery with some speaker wire with a switch on my dash so i could flip my amp on and off?

yea, wire you amp up as you normally would with all the power connections and rca's. then run your remote turn on from your deck to one post on the back of a toggle switch, then run a wire from the other post to your amps rem. turn on input.

Wire to the ACC? If this is what i said below, then sorry. ( but i don't know what ACC is)

You could do it that way;

I would suggest wire it to the cigaret lighter, this way the amp will turn off when you turn off the car, and you don't have to go to bed wondering if you switched the amp off or not. Thats how i did mine.

There is nothing wrong with what you want to do, we are merely saving you the hassle of turning the amp on and off, by telling you to connect it to a 12v power source that only turns on when the car is turned on....

If you want go with the switch.

k, well i have a kenwood kdc-122, its a entry level deck and it doesnt have remote leads, i dont have a manual and i cant find one anywere, how would i know which wire to wire my remote wire too? the red (power?) wire?
