quick question. if i'm wiring up 1000w to my sub, is 8gauge from the battery to amp ok? and what do i need from the amp to speaker?

go 4ga from batt to amp with around a 150a fuse, then wire your sub(s) with the 8ga if you have nothing else.

Definitely go with 4ga from battery to amp. That way, when you add an amp, you can use a distribution block safely.

Because after a while with one sub, you'll want another!
