Wiring Q

Hey guys, I'm looking at the Peerless SLS 8" woofer for my midbass, but I would like to run them at 4 ohms bridged on my 5ch. The speakers are 8ohm'ers.

If I bridge my 3 and 4 channels to run these in parallel at 4 ohm, the only thing I'll lose is the ability to balance right? Fader is a non issue. Would there be any other problems?

Thank you.

Just make sure your amp can run at 4 ohms bridged. Other than that, you should be fine. Like you said though, you will lose left/right audio, it will be mono, which isn't exactly desirable but for midbass it should be fine.

Before making up your mind about wiring these 8 ohm drivers in parallel be sure you really need to do that. Give this a read: The "Real Deal" with 8 ohm drivers - DIYMA.com
I don't exactly NEED 8 ohm drivers, but my amp will give me more power bridged, and it will only do 4 ohm bridged. Unbridged, each channel deals 75 watts, bridged is 100.. Just wanted the extra wattage.

As for the mono signal, I didn't think it would matter much for a midbass. I just want a nice midbass section to go with my tweets. If you guys don't think the extra 50 total watts is worth losing balance/being mono, then I won't worry about the 8 Ohm drivers..
