I just got into subs and bought a single 4-ohm, MTX 7500 sub. Its peak power is 800 and RMS is 400 watts. How should I wire this and what amp should I use? I wanna get an MTX amp. If anyone can held it would be appreciated. I try to read all these forums and get more confused. And what is bridging? Is it using two channels for one sub?

well its a single 4 ohm woofer. so you get a speaker wire. hook the positive side of the wire to the + on the woofer and negative side of the wire to the - on the woofer. and you would need an amp that has about 400 rms at 4 ohm.

If you want to upgrade your alt, a MTX 2 channel amp that is 400 watts is only gonna have a MAX draw of 40 amps if you go by whats in the side of em. That means that you could get away with buying like a standard 100-105 amp gm altenator and fitting it to your car. Also do a search on here about upgrading the BIG 3 and do that as well

x2. im shure your alt will be fine with a 2 chan 600 watt amp. but what kinda ride do you have? im shure there is aftermarket alts for it., also if you read up on the gain setting sticky at teh top of the amp section, you will be fine and wont clip your woofers.
