as you can assume by the posts i've had recently, im new to wiring systems. ive built enclosures but just getting into wiring. ive heard/read that different wires get run on different sides of the car to reduce signal noise. is this true and what gets run on which sides?

It's easiest (usually) to run the power wire down whatever side of the vehicle the battery is on (less wire that way)...also matters whether you have an existing opening (boot) on whichever side of the vehicle to pass the wire through the firewall.

Easiest and easiest. Those are the sides that I run the power and signal on respectively. Assuming that your power is DC (it is) and your signal is AC (it is) you won't have any cross mojinations between the two.
