Wiring Head Unit Channels Together for More Power?

Can the four channels of a head unit be wired into two channels to get more power? For example, if it was 20x4 could you wire it so it's 40x2?

Will make a neat fog machine under your dash for a few seconds though. If more power is needed, get an amplifier.

If im not mistaken you would wire it into series one positive from one side to negative on the other side and the use the remaining other two to whatever speaker(s) your using. Dunno what your outcome would be though i wouldnt try it lol. No, it wont work. Like other said. Hopefully though, it would just blow the fuse on the HU and wouldnt fry your whole HU.

It would only work if your HU's outputs are bridgeable...most likely they are not, so don't do it

Was thinking about this the other day to add a little extra power for the rear fill. Surprised no one tried it yet.

Wouldnt this be the same as bridging an external amp? Dropping the Ohm Load as seen by the amp in half (even though the final load stays the same)

Sounds like a good way to fry the amp if you ask me.
