Wiring Harness?

Hey. I'm installing my first car stereo and i need some help...

I'm putting a Alpine CDE-121 into a 2001 Chevy Malibu. I've taken out the stock head unit and now i'm confused. I have an aftermarket wiring harness but i'm not sure what to do with it. Do i cut the stock wiring harness and tie it to the new harness?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It should plug into your cars existing harness then match the wires up to the pigtail with your after market headunit

There should be from the wires coming out the back of the headunit to the wiring harness you bought specifically for your car.

soldering is best, but simple butt connectors will do fine.

No cutting wires.

Match up colors with the wire harness that you bought with the wire harness that came with the head unit. Do this on a bench, crimp insulated butt connectors with no bare copper strands visible. Then plug aftermarket harness into the factory plug.
